“Sweet Spot” is an expanded cinema live performance based on the short film of the same name. In this project, friend and director Jorge Ribeiro and I act as alter egos to establish a playful dialogue between different languages and media.
Using traditional cabeçudo masks, we blend live electronic music and video projection with painting and animation.
It is a work in progress between, quite literally, two big heads.

“Sweet Spot” premiered at the World Animation Festival (Amarante) and at Monstra – Lisbon Animation Festival in 2021, where it was highlighted as one of the best moments of the edition. The performance has also been presented at Stereo Section in Curtas Vila do Conde – International Film Festival, CINANIMA – International Animated Film Festival of Espinho, and the Açoteia – Faro Rooftop Festival in 2025.
The performance is often paired with masterclasses in schools and conferences, where we talk through the creative process, demonstrate the techniques, and break down the technologies behind it.
