Identity and graphics, including poster-brochure (photo by Roberto Collovà), hand-drawn typography, billboard, banners and invitations, for Porto Poetic, a major exhibition covering the career and works of Pritzker winners Álvaro Siza Vieira and Eduardo Souto de Moura, along with other major Portuguese architects. More than 60 thousand visitors saw the exhibition at Almeida Garrett Gallery, Porto, Portugal, after a very successful run at La Triennale di Milano in Italy.
The hand-drawn vernacular typography is based upon the (anonymous) graffiti Bonjour Tristesse on Wohnhaus Schlesisches Tor building by Siza Vieira and Peter Brinkert, in Berlin. Which also led to a hand-drawn typographic intervention on the sections’ names and interpretative texts titles on the exhibition walls and plinths – pictured above.
